My given name is Beth.  No, it is not Elizabeth.  Just a simple four letter word.  My mother told me she once knew someone named “Liz,” but didn’t like her.  I truly believe that age is just a number.  Of course, I have more joint squeaks than I did at 20, my near/reading vision sucks (comparatively), and I purchase numerous anti-aging facial products, but I still maintain the attitude that life should be enjoyed and not be completely tedious.  Aging happily (or at least, contently) is all about attitude.

Let us all celebrate the age of wisdom, calmness, and a sense of freedom.  My childhood girlfriends and I grew up in a transitional age, when assertive and successful women were accepted, but it was relatively new to U.S.A. society.  I think we all felt (feel), in some way, that we had to prove ourselves as young females.  As I age, I feel less and less the need to be the smartest person in the room with the first right answer.  Admittedly, I do have a difficult time letting go of it, but I think it will get easier.
